Excellence in Reporting Science Writing Workshop 2019

The Zimbabwe Field Epidemiology Training Program (ZimFETP) held its annual writing workshop from the 3rd to the 7th of June 2019 at a local hotel in Harare. The objective of the workshop is to strengthen the scientific writing skills of participants with the ultimate goal of publishing in peer reviewed public health journals. Participants are drawn from alumni and residents who have been in the field and have at least one completed study report to work on. At the end of the week long training, the expected output is a draft zero manuscript which will undergo internal review until it is ready for journal submission. Dr Peter Nsubuga from Global Health Solutions was the main facilitator for this year’s workshop. Miss Tsitsi Juru, ZimFETP scientific writer and Mr Simbarashe Chiwanda, assistant field coordinator were also part of the facilitation team. In his welcome remarks, Professor Tshimanga, ZimFETP program director thanked Dr Nsubuga for helping capacitate the program in scientific writing which would ensure sustainability in future years to come.
